Blogging for the Centric Channel!

This week I was approached to join the blogging staff of Centric, which I had never heard of. It turns out Centric is a new television station that finds BET J and VH1Soul joining forces to support eclectic soul music. They reached out to me to blog on their website, which of course I said yes to.

They have a few blogs on their site but the one I will be contributing to is called Sub Centric, which focuses on underground artists! I am so excited to get to promote what I am doing on a bigger platform!

An Evening of Eclectic Soul Fusion

Wednesday March 17, 2010

Strictly Social takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at
LA’s charming Little Temple, continuing the legacy of the renowned
Temple Bar, by featuring a carefully selected showcase of artists and
DJs that reflect the Nu-Soul sound. This monthly event always features
the hottest artists pushing the boundaries of soul and a vibe that is
truly unique.

Featuring Live Performances By:

SHAFIQ HUSAYN of Sa-Ra Creative Partners

Shafiq Husayn has been one of the most innovative musical architects
in Los Angeles in recent years. His personal discography spans decades,
from Ice T to King Tee to recent additions like Bilal and Erykah Badu.
As a member of the Sa-Ra Creative Partners collective, he has been
making major waves in the music industry. Expect a layered live
experience full of depth and truth as Shafiq performs material from his
solo debut, Shafiq En' A Free-Ka.

Returning to the Strictly Social stage, Rogiérs combines soul,
R&B, hip-hop, and electronica into his own unique package. He'll be
performing tracks from his debut Life & Music: All Of It as well as the acclaimed track "The Reason" produced by Astral 22.

In addition to lead vocals and drumming, Breezy Lovejoy composes his
own music, laying the beat sequences and writing lyrics. Now back from
his first national tour, Breezy Lovejoy will take the stage at Strictly
Social playing music from his just released mixtape “Sh%t I Can't
Clear”, as well as his first EP “Violets Are Blue.”

Our residents DJ Destroyer & DJ Myxzlplix will be spinning a

The Foreign Exchange Grammy Party Photos

Nu-Soul Magazine and RedLight Special Events kicked off Grammy weekend 2010 with a special event to celebrate the first Grammy nomination of The Foreign Exchange. Although Nicolay and Phonte did not take home the trophy, on this night they partied LA style with their friends and supporters at the packed downtown venue, Elevate. A line stretched around the corner as eager fans awaited to take part in this momentous occasion. A truly memorable night in Los Angeles, 21 floors above the city, the party did not stop. Enjoy the photos courtesy of Kris Perry and check the video by Anthony Valadez! This was definitely the biggest party I have thrown so far!
